Women in Software

CHAMPIONING THE NEXT GENERATION OF TALENT

“The service at Copy & Co was thorough, efficient and professional. Adele was in constant communication, keeping us updated at every stage of the process. Highly recommended!”(Haylee Potts)

The tech industry has a persistent gender gap, with women making up just 26.7% of tech-related jobs globally. In 2019, Makers and I co-founded the UK’s first Women in Software initiative to tackle this issue head-on. The Women in Software Awards has since become an annual platform celebrating the women who are making waves and driving change within the software industry.

In 2021, I partnered with Makers through Copy & Co. to amplify the initiative’s reach. We developed a comprehensive campaign strategy that raised awareness, encouraged nominations, and honoured the incredible achievements of women in software. This included writing campaign copy, creating content, and managing communication with the judges. I also co-authored a white paper on the topic of women in tech.

How Copy & Co helped

  • Campaign copy & content: I created persuasive copy and content that highlighted the importance of diversity and inclusion in tech, while encouraging nominations for the Women in Software awards. This content was shared across multiple channels, including social media, email marketing, and the Makers website.

  • Judging process: I helped manage communication with the industry panel of judges, ensuring a transparent and fair selection process for the award winners.

  • White paper: Co-authored a white paper exploring the barriers women face in tech, the challenges to career progression, and potential solutions for creating a more inclusive tech industry.

Results

  • Industry recognition: The Women in Software Awards received positive feedback from industry leaders, with several top tech companies expressing interest in collaborating with Makers on future diversity and inclusion initiatives.

  • Increased brand awareness: The campaign led to a record-breaking 210% increase in LinkedIn impressions and a 150% boost in engagement, including a 10% growth in followers and a 20% increase in click-through rates to the Makers website.
